AdventureWagon Goat Storage

Adventurewagon Goat is a hybrid hardgoods / softgoods storage solution that I designed and developed for vanlife / sprinter and transit vans. It just launched to market Feb 2025.

The design strategy :

  • Maximize the softgoods design language as established by Mule 2.0
  • Express sustainability in materials and localized manufacture
  • Maximize storage space and use of the wheel well areas
  • Provide a flexible system that can be adapted by the user as needed
  • Provide tie down points and safe storage

The storage system structure is based on a formed metal frame, made locally in Oregon. The frame provides a bolt down point to the van and also a strong structure to build upon. This was a non negotiable engineering point for safety and durability. The outer of the Goat is a fully recycled heavy duty nylon called reCor by Cordura, this provides features and the soft goods aesthetic. Along with high quality fabrics, easy to use and very strong magnetic buckles are used to attach the lid (Fidlock). If you haven’t used these before they feel great and work fantastic, thus worth the cost in the design. The three basic compartments can be configured for storage or to house electrical systems / batteries / power supplies / fuses.

Material Path :
Recycled 500D Cordura re/Cor ,
Recycled 200D Oxford Polyester
Recycled Nylon Webbing 12 mm – 50mm,
YKK #10 coil zippers and sliders.
5mm ABD Extruded board for stiffeners.
Fidlock corner clasps
Current manufacturing – East Asia

some design process out-takes

Inspirations:

Skteches: The creation process was immensely prototype heavy, initial concepts were made from wood for the frame and canvas fabric to prove out the sewn component.
